About Olivia

Where creativity, wellbeing, and spirituality meet.

Hello and welcome. My name is Olivia McCabe, and I’m a writer based in Hertfordshire, England. This space is where I share reflections on creativity, wellbeing, and spirituality — three threads that run quietly through much of my life and work.

Writing has always been a way for me to make sense of the world. Sometimes that means exploring the creative process itself; sometimes it means writing about the inner life — the thoughts, questions, and experiences that shape who we are. My faith is also an important part of that journey, and many of my reflections grow out of a quiet awareness of God’s presence in the midst of ordinary life.

What I Write About

Creativity

Creativity has the power to help us explore ideas, express what we are feeling, and see the world from new angles.

Wellbeing

Writing can be a powerful tool for reflection, healing, and understanding our inner lives.

Spirituality

Many of my reflections are shaped by my faith and by the quiet ways in which God meets us in everyday life.

During the Covid lockdowns, I found myself in an unexpectedly creative season. Each day I recorded a short reflection on my phone — usually just three to six minutes — capturing something of what life felt like in that strange and uncertain time. They were never meant to be polished; in many ways their value lies in the fact that they are raw and immediate, a small daily window into what lockdown life was really like.

Around the same time, I also began leading an online writing group called Writing for Wellness, where people came together to use creativity as a way of navigating the emotional impact of lockdown. That experience eventually became my book, Writing for Wellness: Surviving Lockdown One Word at a Time.

Today I teach creative writing classes and continue to explore the connection between creativity and wellbeing. I’m also currently working on a novel, alongside the essays and reflections you’ll find here on the blog.

This website is a place where those different strands come together. You’ll find posts about writing, mental health, and faith, as well as occasional glimpses behind the scenes of the projects I’m working on.

If something you read here resonates with you, I’m always glad to hear from readers.

Thank you for being here.
